Beta version

Whilst we test every version of CostsMaster thoroughly on a range of systems and by a number of different people, some bugs only materialise on particular combinations of hardware or as a result of a very specific series of actions. The public beta versions on this page have been tested by us as thoroughly as we can, and are now made available for other users to try.

The advantage to you is you get the benefit of new features at the earliest opportunity but there is a risk that you will uncover a hitherto undiscovered bug. Usually these are fairly minor but we cannot guarantee that and you should bear this in mind before downloading a public beta. We are extremely grateful to all the users who choose to assist in this way and should you encounter a serious problem we will do all we can to ensure you don’t lose work if at all possible. However we would recommend that you make regular manual backups of your file so that you can easily revert to an earlier stage if necessary.

Files saved with a new version are generally incompatible with older versions (though we can usually backdate a file for you should you need us to do so) and you should consider whether your files need to be shared with other users before downloading a public beta.

New in 6.1.11

1. Exported Documents
a) New option in the Export wizard to export all documents with file names that are compatible with CCMS. This doesn’t apply to the CCMS documents themselves which will always export with compatible file names, but if you need to upload other documents to CCMS you can use this option to avoid having to rename them.

Bug Fixes

1. Breakdowns
a) Exporting the N260 Schedule of documents with an uneven number of categories over 2 pages (or more), caused the last category in the first section to be repeated in the next section and missed out the last category.

2. Control Centre
a) Calculation of running totals took a very long time when there were large numbers of fee earners & parties.
b) When opening the Control Centre or opening a new file, the control centre calculated the totals twice unnecessarily.

3. Categories
a) Merging Categories could result in the fee earner category assignments becoming mis-assigned.

4. Legal Aid Claims
a) (in 4.1.9) Renamed Supporting Documentation still had spaces where the filename contained a full stop.
b) (in 4.1.9) Renaming scheme altered so that the resulting file name has fewer unnecessary underscores.

5. Misc.
a) Occasional AV when closing a file (more prevalent the larger the file) when the Control Centre is in the middle of recalculating totals.

New in 6.1.9

1. Legal Aid Claims
a) Default file name for exported CCMS files altered to only include characters which are now accepted by CCMS.

2. Column Bills
a) Improved spacing for padded pound signs.

Bug Fixes

1. Breakdowns
a) Exporting or previewing a Precedent U caused any subsequent previews of other breakdowns to not export any work until the export wizard or the part export options windows were opened.
